More than 20 members of the Rotary Club of Madras attended a poignant remembrance gathering for Rtn Dr Sangeetha Viswanathan at VHS Multispeciality Hospital on 13 June 26. The event also marked the inauguration of the Dr. Sangeetha Viswanathan Pediatric Cardiology Endowment Fund, established through a generous contribution of Rs.1 crore from her family to support the growth of pediatric cardiac care at VHS. As family members, friends, fellow Rotarians, hospital staff, and medical colleagues shared their memories, a remarkable picture emerged. Here was a person who had spent only a little over three years with Rotary Club of Madras and barely two to three years at VHS yet had left an imprint that far exceeded the time she spent in either institution. Past President Chella Krishna captured her spirit beautifully. He reflected that she “not only lit the lamp but made sure it was nurtured.” He also observed that when she served, “she did not look ather watch.”
